There are lots of new reports, here from athletes benefitting from the fund ...


August 2009 update......

In 2008 we gave out 13 grants in total, which came to over £2,500. More information on these grants and how they have helped young athletes can be found on the reports page.

So far this year we have had 3 successful applications, it would be nice to see more applications, so please feel free to download a form (here) and send it in for consideration.

Also if you would like to promote the JTF and would like a tee-shirt, please get in touch.


Updates Nov 2008

From the Treasurer ... during this financial year to date we have given grants of over £1,200 and received donations of £813.00. We would like to acknowledge the substantial donation from Yorkshire Veterans A.A. and also the regular monthly donations from a kind anonymous supporter based in the South West of England.

Update Dec 2007

Grants have been awarded to: the McGivern children, Amy, Declan and Ruth; Adam and Hannah Bateson; and Adam Grice (reports here soon).

Recent donations include that from the Gravy Pud 5 last weekend (2/12/07) - Many thanks to Andi Jones and his team for this effort.

JTF supported some of the youngsters in this competition - read their reports.


World Mountain Running Trophy

Junior England team

The Foundation supported a large number of young athletes in the 21st World Mountain Running Trophy in New Zealand.

In the Junior Women's race: 7th Rachael Thompson; 12th Dionne Allen; and 22nd Emma Stuart;
in the Junior Men's race: 18th Niki Cornock - Wales; 27th Alistair Brownlee; 24th Jonny Mellor; 40th Carwyn Thomas - Wales; 45th Mark Davies - Wales;
in the Senior Women's race: 4th Mary Wilkinson (Adobe PDF docreport here); and 15th Natalie White;
and in the Senior Men's race: 38 Chris Doyle and 39 Andy Norman.

Blue Haywood has received some support from the JTF, we wish her all the best in her athletic career.

Ryan & Nial Gould have received a John Taylor Foundation voucher for equipment.

Dionne Allen has received an Inov-8 running shoe voucher worth £65.00, jointly provided by the JTF & Inov-8 .

Update 15 November 2004

Stuarts at Susa Trials

Rosie and Emma Stuart have been supported by the John Taylor Foundation.

The Kentmere race 2004 (which was and English and British Championship event) donated the proceeds of the race to the John Taylor Foundation. John won this race along with Mark Roberts 2 weeks prior to his tragic death in 2002. The cheque was presented to a representative from the foundation at the FRA dinner last Saturday evening.
The proceeds from the raffle at the FRA dinner was donated to the John Taylor Foundation.
A big thank you to the FRA and also to Pete Bland for their generosity.

Natalie White came a creditable 7th in the last Grand Prix Mountain Race in Slovenia

A donation of £110 has been received from St Radegund Athletics Team, Cambridge.

A meeting has taken place with Dr Walsh consultant Cardiologist at the Queens Medical Centre: he will be helping us with our awareness of cardiomyopathy.

Many thanks to Otley AC's Ian Fisher, who raised £400 for the foundation in running this year's London Marathon - Ian was 36th in 2h21:04

A generous donation was received from the Radfield Trust in April.

Ilkley Sportshall Athletics

Kirstin Bailey represented the foundation at the presentation of Norwich Union Shine Awards to 82 young athletes at Ilkley Sportshall Athletics at the end of March. A donation of £50 was made to the foundation.

 


Fundraising at the Bingley Harriers Do

Some £214 was raised for the JTF by a raffle at the Bingley Harriers Do on Saturday night, 6 March


Soreen Stanbury Splash raffle, 25 Jan 2004

A raffle at the Soreen Stanbury Splash fell race raised over £60 for the JTF.


JTF registered as a charity, 3 Dec 2003

The John Taylor foundation has been granted the status of a registered charity, number 1101008. Thanks to the Trustees for their hard work in meetinng the requirements of registration. Also new objects have been set - see the Foundation page.

22 November 2003 - FRA Do raises funds for the Foundation

At the FRA Dinner all proceeds from the raffle were for the JTF.

November 2003 - Baildon Runners help Foundation

Baildon Runners have raised £350.00 for the Foundation.

The young athletes supported by JTF at the World Mountain Running Trophy in Alaska have turned in some wonderful performances ,,,

Karissa Hawitt was 1st junior lady
Racheal Thompson was 8th junior lady
Katie Ingram also made up the team
They got 2nd team overall

Mark Buckingham was 13th, and there were 3 others running - news to follow ... they got 7th team overall

Natalie White was 30th in the senior ladies.

Simon Bailey was 11th overall, Andrew Symonds was 45th overall, and they got 2nd team overall.

Pennine Footpath Runners are organising the Thurlstone Chase on Saturday 19th July 2003 and donating the proceeds to JTF.

Xcountry, 4.25m/800' From Thurlstone sports field. GR 226036. £3.50 on day. Junior races £1 (U12,U14,U16,) from 13:30. Seniors race 15:30. 13:30

Memorial stone

John's work colleagues have built a memorial stone in his memory. The engraved stone which was specially chosen, sits at the highest point of Bradley Park Golf Club, where John loved to work. A special thanks to Kirklees Leisure Services, Bradley Park Golf Club, and all the greenkeepers (Dave, Marcus, John, Andrew and Martin).

Great Hameldon Hill Race

Many fell runners supported the above event on 25 May. John won the event in 2002 setting a new course record shortly before he died, the proceeds of the race were donated to the Foundation and totalled £200.00. This event will be run next year.

Grabs - JTF reaches as far as Switzerland

There was a small awareness program at Grabs in Switzerland at the end of May.

John had competed at this event in the year 2001.

Ian Fisher @ London Marathon

Well known athlete Ian Fisher ran the London Marathon this year for the Foundation. Ian despite having injury problems completed the marathon well within the first 50 men! He also in the process raised in excess of £500.00 for the Foundation.





Update, 23 May 2003

Alistair Rees - Holmfirth - raised over £300 for the Foundation by running the 3 Peaks race in 3h 44mins (30th overall), mainly gathered through sponsorship from his school Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield.


Update, 19 May 2003

Over the weekend £125 was raised at the Sandal Castle 10k race; and over £30 was raised by Emily Wood, Ilkley Harriers, age 11, on a sponsored walk with the Girl Guides on Ilkley Moor.

At Bunny Run 4, a cheque for over £2400 raised at John's Run in February was displayed by the runners at the start.

Sunday's West Nab fell race raised some £216 for the John Taylor Foundation. Many thanks to the runners and organisers.


Snip, 4 May 2003

John had quite a collection of bikes, and these are being sold by Andy Whitworth's TryCycling shop in Kirkburton (www.trycycling.co.uk) to raise money for the Foundation. Apparently the "best" one has already been sold, to the personal bodyguard of a Sultan, and has been packed and sent off to an exotic location.


Update, 4 May 2003 - Great Hameldon Hill race to support JTF

Clayton-Le-Moors Harriers are to donate the proceeds of their Great Hameldon Hill Race on 25 May to the John Taylor Foundation. John won this race in 2002.
